Patrick Alberto Frye was a generous, kindhearted, champion of the underdog whose young life was cut tragically short in 2007 through a senseless act of violence. Shortly after Patrick’s death, his parents Mark and Teresa, and his brother Michael, formed the Patrick A. Frye Memorial Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a wide-range of aid to deserving students and the less fortunate members of society.
Since its inception, the fund has distributed more than 20 scholarships to students in Lowell area schools; aid to homeless shelters, and in the spirit of Patrick, a number of one-time random acts of kindness to individuals and families who often fall through the cracks of traditional aid and support programs.
The premier fundraising event for the fund is our Fritty 5K - a breezy, relatively flat run through Patrick’s Highlands Neighborhood in Lowell, MA. The inaugural race drew more than 400 participants of all ages and skill levels. This year’s race, scheduled for St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, is expected to draw an even bigger crowd. They'll be competitive runners looking to use the speedy course to improve their 5K personal best and casual runners seeking a moderate challenge to tune-up for the season.
Donations to the Patrick A. Frye Memorial fund are greatly appreciated by the family and friends of Pat as well as those who benefit from the fund. Please join us on March 17, 2013 and help support this worthy cause. If you can't attend, perhaps you will consider making a monetary donation (made payable to the "Patrick A. Frye Memorial Fund"), or even donating an item to be raffled off following the race. Your participation in any form will be much appreciated and will help to defray costs allowing us to put more money toward the mission of Patrick’s fund.
Those interested in donating materials and auction items to support the Fritty 5K can do so via email at [email protected]. Monetary contributions can be mailed to:
